Avatar (the Swedish heavy metal band, not the movie franchise) is warning us not go into the forest.

On Tuesday, the European metal rock band made a chilling announcement on social media that they will be bringing their Don't Go In The Forest Tour to the United States. Previous dates for their European leg were already announced, and it kicks off in Stockholm on Feb. 5. For the U.S. dates, metal bands Fleshgod Apocalypse and Frozen Soul will be supporting Avatar.

"It started off innocently enough. Hiking along on a trail. Sunny. Pleasant. Safe. Then night came, and the trail slowly faded," the band wrote in their caption. "You can’t go back, as you don’t know where you came from. You don’t even dare to turn around, as you can feel someone, or something, watching. What you were, all the way back in the warm embrace of civilization, doesn’t matter. Here it’s just you and the trees."

Formed originally under the name Lost Soul in 2001, the band had multiple lineup changes in its beginnings due to members not showing up to rehearsals or having no interest in playing heavy metal. By October 2003, they established their lineup, which now includes Jonas "Kungen" Jarlsby, John Alfredsson, Johannes Eckerström, Tim Öhrström and Henrik Sandelin.

In their 25-year-tenure, Avatar has released 10 studio albums, one live record and four EPs. The metal band has had some success on U.S. rock radio, most recently with "The Dirt I'm Buried In," peaking at No. 1 in August 2023.

Just last year, Avatar was on their In the Airwaves Tour, which took place in November 2025, a month after they put out Don't Go In The Forest. In addition, they opened for Iron Maiden's Run For Your Lives World Tour in the summer.
