Adam Ramsay-Peaty’s mum, Caroline, has shared a statement after he appeared to blame their family rift for his failure to win gold at the Commonwealth Games.
In the post, Caroline said that she still loves her son, who is married to chef Gordon Ramsay’s model daughter Holly, and is supporting him from afar – but said that “there is something or someone at play who wants to destroy our family”.
“Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation or financial reward, just genuinely given with the love any mother and father would do for their child,” she wrote on her social media pages.
Earlier this week, after three-time Olympic champion Peaty won Bronze in the 100m breaststroke, he broke down in tears and seemed to address the feud to reporters, saying: “It’s hard because I know how hard I’ve worked. I know the s*** I’ve been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll."
Peaty also called out the public scrutiny he’s faced, which he said “goes beyond sport” and urged people to “do better”. The swimmer won Bronze again, this time in the 50m breaststroke, on Monday (27 July).
Caroline also said she has been the source of “vile” and “truly evil” messages online in the wake of the feud, rumours of which surfaced in November 2025, but wrote in her statement: “I have news for you. We are strong, we love and we are always there for each other. It has taken a lot of thought and deep strength to write this post.”
She said she has “taken this for over eight months”, adding: “Enough is enough. Leave us alone to move on with our life.”

Alongside her post was a quote reading: “Truth is so important to me. I forgive people, but that doesn't mean I accept their behaviour or trust them. I forgive them for me so I can let go and move on with my life.'

In November 2025, the couple reportedly banned Caroline from their high-profile wedding ceremony. Both Caroline and Peaty’s aunt publicly called out the athlete, with the former accusing the Ramsays of “pulling him away from her”.
Peaty publicly spoke about the feud that same month, writing on Instagram that there are “two sides to every story”.
Ahead of Netflix documentary Being Gordon Ramsay, the chef – and Peaty’s father-in-law – addressed the family dispute, telling the press that the ordeal had been “upsetting”.
He told The Daily Mail: “It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing – none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance – we welcomed them. We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty.”
Caroline attended the engagement party and could be seen on the sidelines in those scenes featured in the documentary.
Ramsay-Peaty previously admitted he came close to quitting his sport after failing to defend his 100m breaststroke Olympic title in Paris, describing the period as a “self-destructive spiral” as he battled injury problems and mental health struggles.
