Christine Taylor is opening up about her frightening experience getting carjacked at gunpoint in the early ‘90s.

During a recent visit to the *We’re Still Here, Babe* podcast, the *Brady Bunch *actress revealed that she and her *Blossom* costar David Pressman once got their car stolen in broad daylight in front of their Los Angeles apartment.

“We lived together for many years and we got carjacked together in broad daylight,” Taylor explained. “You talk about mental health… For me, that incident, it was three in the afternoon and it was on Detroit Street near Beverly Boulevard and we lived in an apartment there and we got carjacked at gunpoint.”

The *Dodgeball *star explained that she had just parked their car and they were getting ready to cross the street to their apartment when the robbery occurred.

“This car slowed down, and I didn’t even think twice because the car was slowing down,” she said. “But it was three in the afternoon! Bright sunshine! And the guy in the passenger seat got out with a gun and waved to David to stay on the curb and told me to give him the keys.”

Taylor explained that she had secured a security club to the steering wheel prior to exiting the vehicle, so the culprit requested that she remove it and hand over the keys.

“I had my purse on my shoulder, and I just remember thinking, like, don’t go for the purse, just take the car. Just in my head,” she said. “And then, of course, he said, ‘Leave the purse.’”

She continued, “It probably all happened in the span of a minute and a half or two minutes, but it felt like time stood still. It was so scary. I mean, I was just so grateful that we were okay.”

Taylor noted that she didn’t really process the experience until later. “The silver lining of it was that at the time I had been auditioning for a really bad — well,  I didn’t think it was the time,” she said. “It didn’t turn out the best, but it was a horror movie called *Night of the Demons 2* that I had been auditioning for. I ended up a day or two after the carjacking getting cast in that movie.”

She described working on the 1994 horror film as “the most therapeutic experience” because it allowed her to work through her trauma surrounding the incident while also “getting to be in this horror movie where you’re running around screaming with kids your age.”

Still, the actress noted that the carjacking incident still “comes up often” in her life and how her body responds to trauma.

“To me, very soon after it happened, if I saw somebody on the street in a crosswalk, my body would freeze because of seeing a person crossing and thinking they’re going to come to the car,” she said.
