Dennis Quaid became visibly emotional recalling his *Parent Trap** *costar Natasha Richardson, 17 years after the late actress died in 2009 following a skiing accident.
The 71-year-old actor fought back tears when asked about working with Richardson on the set of the 1998 Disney classic, in which she starred as the mother of one half of a set of long-lost twins (Lindsay Lohan in dual roles), with Quaid playing the father.
"My heart breaks every time," Quaid said on the *Out of Order* show (below), after watching a *Parent Trap* clip of their characters discussing their wedding night.

Quaid called Richardson, who was 45 when she died in March 2009, "just an incredible person," and said, "If there's anybody I'd want to work with again, it would be her."
"She was a great person, besides being an amazing actor to work with. She really was. The way she went... just a little accident on a ski slope," he reminisced, his voice cracking at times.

The star praised Richardson's "relationship with her own kids that she also brought to this" that made her extra "present" amid her dynamic with the stars of *The Parent Trap.*
"I really miss her, but there's a whole generation and continues to be more generations actually of kids that were 8 years old at the time, a couple of years later, saw the movie 42 times on VHS... who've rented it with their kids now and watch it 42 times," Quaid said, celebrating the enduring legacy he and Richardson left together on the screen. "It turned out to be probably the most watched film of anything I've done."
Those generations of *Parent Trap* fans might soon have something else to add to their library of movie favorites, as fellow *Parent Trap* stars Elaine Hendrix and Lisa Ann Walter teased to * *in September that Lohan might've gotten the ball rolling on a sequel at Disney following the box office success of her *Freaky Friday* sequel last year.
In a separate EW interview about her cameo (and onscreen reunion with Lohan) in *Freakier Friday**, *Hendrix noted that "there are always rumors" about a *Parent Trap* sequel, and that she'd absolutely join the project under the right circumstances — despite the debatably villainous sensibilities of her character, Meredith Blake, the love interest of Quaid's character.
"I'd be so crushed if she wasn’t part of a sequel," Hendrix said, accepting that her character exited the first film in pretty definitive fashion.
