Livvy Dunne wants to jump into an acting career.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE on Feb. 7, the former Louisiana State University (LSU) gymnast, 23, revealed that she wants to lean more into acting now after retiring from gymnastics in April 2025.
"One thing people would be surprised about is that I take acting lessons — and I really love it,” Dunne said. “It's something I've been passionate about for quite some time. I was interested in doing that at LSU, but sports are your top priority when you're a student-athlete at school; school and sports, but really gymnastics was my main focus."
"And now that I'm done with school, I have more time to lean into the acting stuff and the creative side of things," she added.
At the moment, Dunne doesn't have a specific acting avenue in mind between TV and movies, but she said she is open to the entire experience of acting and getting the opportunity to work with other artists.

"I feel like collabing on creativity and seeing the end result, having something be great after, that's something that I love," she said. "And whether it's gymnastics or acting in a movie or a TV show, I just think watching all your hard work pay off, whether it's an individual thing or a group thing, I think it's so cool."

Dunne also told PEOPLE she has a few other goals for the future, such as "keep expanding" the Livvy Fund, a fund aimed at helping female athletes at LSU to secure NIL deals.
"And learning how to have your own brand and be a brand, I think something with that would be so cool, helping educate female athletes on that," she explained. "I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do yet, but it'll be cool."
Dunne has landed brand deals with American Eagle, Grubhub and other companies. She has also graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Dunne also revealed she hopes “one day” that she is like her mom.
"She's my role model, and I love her so much," she said.
Dunne grew up in New Jersey and began her gymnastics training in 2005. As a teenager, she was homeschooled by her mother, allowing her to compete in the National Championships and other events. In 2020, she joined the LSU gymnastics team. She retired from gymnastics in April 2025.
