Journalist and presenter Katie Couric asked Gavin Newsom if he had any problem with his good looks. Alluding to the governor of California being called “slick,” she mentioned whether that has something to do with his hairstyle. Newsom revealed that he does nothing about the comments he receives and is comfortable embracing his individuality. He added that people do not have to like him. The playful exchange between Couric and Newsom has since drawn massive attention online, receiving mixed reactions.

During her “Next Question” podcast, Couric referred to Newsom being called slick and asked him if it was a remark about his hairstyle. She also asked him whether he suffers from a ‘Zoolander’ problem, referring to the Ben Stiller-directed movie. Newsom laughed off before Couric mentioned the Vogue article, which claimed that he was handsome.
“Are you just ridiculously good-looking, as Vogue said? No, seriously. What do you do about that?” Couric asked. Newsom responded that he does nothing about his good looks. “You don’t do anything about it.”
Newsom continued, “‘Cuz if you’re going to do something about it, then you’re b——–ing people. You know what? I am who I am. And it’s fine. You don’t have to like me. Or maybe you like a slick person. I don’t know. Whatever. It’s okay,” he elaborated. His comments, however, received mixed reactions on social media.

This conversation alluded to the Vogue interview that showered admiration for Newsom’s looks in the opening line itself. The reporter for the outlet wrote, “Let’s get this out of the way: He is embarrassingly handsome, his hair seasoned with silver, at ease with his own eminence as he delivers his final State of the State address.”
More recently, Newsom continued speaking against Donald Trump as he slammed him for not giving enough time to honor US service members who lost their lives in the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. He felt that the president was more focused on his new ballroom than on his countrymen who died in a war he started.
