Harry Styles opts for a different kind of stardom in his latest music video!

From speeding around in a convertible to running through landmines, the English pop star channels his inner action star for his “American Girls” music video, released on Friday, March 6.

The visual for the pop song is the second to arrive from his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.

The video opens up with Styles, 32, walking on a movie set, tote bag in hand, as the opening chords of the song play. Then, he is shown filming his first scene, riding a motorcycle as artificial wind from an electric fan is blowing through his hair and bright yellow tie.

As he sings about his friends falling in love with American girls, Styles sits back to observe what’s going on and closely watches the stuntmen who fill his place for the film’s risky action shots.

The next scene follows Styles as he gets in a car and drives off into the distance. When he falls asleep at the wheel, the car drives underneath a truck, resulting in a fiery explosion. Thankfully, the pop singer is spared.

After every stunt, Styles happily walks away with nothing but some lint on his sleeve. Meanwhile, his daring stuntmen are seen with bruises and dirt on their face as they leave the set.

“American Girls” details Styles’ personal reflections on marriage and what he wants from life.

“‘I’ve known you for ages,’ it’s all that I’ve heard / My friends are in love with American girls / I’ve seen it in stages all over the world / My friends are in love with American girls," he sings on the track.

During an appearance on The Zane Lowe Show earlier this week, the musician revealed that the song is about the feelings that came up as he watched his friends fall in love with American girls and get married.

“The song to me is like, it’s actually quite a lonely song in a lot of ways,” Styles said. “I watched my three closest friends get married, and actually seeing them trust in something and risk something to find something truly fulfilling in a way that isn’t as shiny and on paper as exciting.”

The “Aperture” singer continued, “Watching them get married, I was like, ‘I’m single, so I’m having all the fun. And ‘American Girls’ is actually about watching them get married, and there just is a magic when you find the right person that you want to be with. I think watching them do that and seeing that it doesn’t come without any uncertainty, it doesn’t come without any risk.”

“Having the time to stop and assess all of it and really look at my life from a bird’s eye view and go like, ‘What do I actually want in my life?’ I have all these things around me all the time. It’s hard to pull those things in without making space for them," said Styles.

He went on to explain that he had a “real honest conversation” with himself about what he wants out of life.

“I want to be fulfilled, and I want to be in great relationships with people, I want to have great friendships with people, I want a family. I want these things,” he said. “It just allowed me to go like, ‘OK, what do I have to do to create space to allow these things to happen? I can’t just expect them to just happen to me.”

Styles will celebrate Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally with his one-night-only concert in Manchester, England, on album release day. The concert will be turned into a Netflix special titled Harry Styles. One Night in Manchester, which will hit the streaming platform on Sunday, March 8.
