There's a new update on Mason McWhorter following his split from Layla Taylor

One month after Layla announced their relationship status, Mason debuted a new hairstyle that seemed to signal a breakup makeover

When announcing their separation in February, Layla said there is "no bad blood"

This Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star underwent a major breakup makeover.

In February, cast member Layla Taylor, 25, announced that she and her boyfriend, Mason McWhorter, officially split months after they were first romantically linked in July 2025 (although the pair have quite the storyline ahead of them in season 4 of the Hulu series).

Just days after the March 12 release of the show's latest season, Mason revealed that he cut his previously long curly hair into a much shorter style.

Instagram photos shared on March 17 show the social media star rocking bangs and a short mullet with faded sides while modeling a checkered shirt, jeans and a tank top. Although not confirmed, it looks like the transformation was done in response to the breakup.

In his caption, McWhorter tagged brother Mason McWhorter, who was also married to Mormon Wives star Miranda McWhorter from 2017 until 2024, when she announced their divorce that August.

Layla broke the news of her and Mason's relationship status on TikTok following speculation from fans.

"I feel like it's kind of obvious," the mom of two shared in the Feb. 7 video. "I think everyone's already noticed, and there's pages already making videos about it, so I just wanted to hop on here to kind of set the record straight on something."

Calling the breakup "still super fresh," the reality star said there was "no bad blood" between herself and Mason, whom she "genuinely" wishes "nothing but the best for."

"Things just weren't working out," she continued. "I think we were just on two different paths right now, and he felt in order for him to grow, he had to be on his own. And I respect his decision, and I truly hope that he gets what he wants in life."

Her relationship with Mason was the first since her divorce from Clayton Wessell, and she revealed how the former became a "really big part" of her life and that of her kids (she and Clayton share two sons).

"I just really thought that I was gonna get the family that I wanted so badly," she said before asking fans to be "nice and kind" to Mason as they navigate this new chapter.

The former pair most recently attended the Wuthering Heights premiere on Jan. 28 in Los Angeles.
