Ryan Reynolds stepped out for a surprise solo appearance at the 2026 Comic-Con event on July 25.
The Deadpool actor reprised his character in head-to-toe denim.
Reynolds’s rare public outing comes weeks after Justin Baldoni broke his silence on his nearly two-year legal battle with Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively.
Ryan Reynolds was back in character as he brought back his most beloved role during a surprise solo appearance over the weekend. Just weeks after Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily broke their silence on their nearly two-year lawsuit with Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, the Deadpool actor shrugged off the legal drama at the 2026 Comic-Con event in a head-to-toe denim costume.

Reynolds had fans doing a double take as he showed up in a disguise for an unexpected cameo during the Marvel Studios’ presentation in San Diego on July 25. The 49-year-old actor hasn’t been confirmed for a role in Avengers: Doomsday, but he appeared alongside other stars like Paul Rudd and Robert Downey Jr. who will be a part of the X-Men to Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover.

Swapping out the signature black-and-red Deadpool suit he wore to play the antihero in both Deadpool movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds surprised attendees in a similar one-piece outfit made out of different washes of stretchy denim.

While in character as Deadpool, Reynolds acted disappointed when Downey Jr. told him the film had already wrapped filming. Jokingly vying for inclusion in the MCU movie, he asked, “So there’s no additional photography, no overages, maybe last-minute additions...?”

Reynolds’s solo appearance comes amid ongoing legal drama involving Lively as well as her former It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni. The Gossip Girl alum and Baldoni reached a settlement out of court on May 4, but they are still embroiled in court proceedings as Lively seeks $8.4 million in legal fees and other expenses from the Jane the Virgin actor.
Baldoni—who broke his silence on the “trauma” of the highly-publicized lawsuit in a July 8 Instagram video—has since challenged her request, which comprises $7.5 million in fees for their two legal firms as well as over $540,000 in additional expenses. According to ABC, Baldoni’s lawyers have called the amount “excessive” and asked that the damages be dismissed or reduced.
