Production on season 5 of *The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives** *has abruptly halted after police opened an investigation into an alleged domestic assault incident involving star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
The Draper City Police Department confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE on Monday that a "domestic assault investigation" has been opened into the allegations, which "have been made in both directions." Officers were in contact with the former couple, who share son Ever, on Feb. 24 and 25. TMZ was first to report the news.
A source close to the matter tells ** that cameras were not rolling when the incident took place, and that Paul's children were not present.
A spokesperson for the Draper City P.D. said in a statement to EW that the department does not "release details related to active investigations" without "an immediate impact to public safety."

"They are not filming," sources close to the series told PEOPLE, adding that Paul "has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off."
Season 4 of the wildly popular reality series dropped on Hulu last week. Paul shares a son and a daughter with her ex, Tate Paul, who has never appeared on *Mormon Wives*. She began dating Mortensen, a real estate agent and the owner of a tiling company, years before the series premiere in September 2024. They were on-and-off throughout the series, leaving things on uncertain terms at the end of season 4.
EW has reached out to representatives for Paul, Mortensen, and Hulu for comment.

Paul was chosen as the star of *The Bachelorette** *season 22 in September. The premiere set for Sunday is highly anticipated, in no small part thanks to Paul's admission on the recent season of *Mormon Wives *that she spent the night before day one of filming *The Bachelorette *with Mortensen.
A representative for ABC did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

Paul has been the subject of near-constant controversy since she founded MomTok, the community of Mormon influencers whose lives *Mormon Wives *chronicles. She was arrested for alleged domestic violence in 2023 after an altercation with Mortensen, ultimately being charged with misdemeanor assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, after she allegedly threw a chair at Mortensen that instead hit their daughter. Paul eventually pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, which means that if she complies with the terms of the plea, the charge will be dismissed. All other charges were also dismissed.
In a September interview, she claimed she "never intentionally did anything with my children."
