Spider-Man is getting a new set of wheels – and they're electric.
BMW has revealed that its new all-electric iX3 will play a key role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest instalment of the hugely successful superhero franchise starring Tom Holland, which arrives in cinemas today. Rather than simply making a brief cameo, BMW says the iX3 has been woven into the story alongside the BMW 5 Series, making the cars part of the action rather than just background props.
It's a high-profile partnership for BMW and one that puts its latest electric SUV in front of what could be one of the biggest cinema audiences of the year. Spider-Man is one of the world's most popular superheroes, and anticipation for the new film is huge. According to BMW, the official trailer became the first movie trailer ever to pass one billion views in just four days. The timing isn't accidental, either. Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks a fresh chapter for Peter Parker, while the iX3 is the first model from BMW's all-new Neue Klasse generation, which will underpin the brand's next wave of electric cars.

“The launch of the Neue Klasse and Spider-Man: Brand New Day could not be more fitting. Both stand for a bold new beginning and the confidence to shape what comes next. We are proud to accompany this new Spider-Man chapter with the BMW iX3, our first model of the Neue Klasse,” said Bernd Körber, senior vice president of BMW brand and product management.
BMW is also celebrating the partnership with a one-off show car called the iX3 Flow – Spider-Man Brand New Day. Developed with Sony and Marvel, the unique iX3 features a colour-changing exterior using full-colour E Ink technology and animated graphics inspired by Spider-Man's movements and comic-book style. Instead of conventional paintwork, parts of the car's body can display changing graphics, turning the SUV into something that looks as though it's driven straight out of the Marvel Universe.

The special iX3 Flow will make its public debut at the film's premiere before going on display at BMW Welt in Munich until September.
Spider-Man fans who already own a BMW won't be left out, either. From 27 July until 10 August, drivers of suitably equipped BMW models in more than 70 countries will be able to download a special Spider-Man animation. Starting the car will display a Spider-Man banner on the central screen, which launches a full-screen animation complete with themed music and a synchronised interior light show.
BMW has also released a short teaser film to promote the partnership. It shows a father and son sitting in their charging iX3 watching news reports about Spider-Man. When the son spots the superhero on a nearby skyscraper, his father assumes he's looking at graffiti. Moments later, Spider-Man lands on the bonnet of the BMW before disappearing back into action, prompting the son to smile and say: "Told you."

Away from its Hollywood debut, the iX3 is also an important car for BMW. It introduces a new generation of technology that will feature across future BMW electric models, including the brand's new panoramic display that stretches across the base of the windscreen.
The iX3 has already picked up some impressive silverware, too, being named both the 2026 World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle by a jury of 98 motoring journalists from 33 countries.
