Super Bowl LX logo conspiracy: prediction for divisional round

Get your tin foil hats out folks! It's conspiracy time. If the red yarn is to be believed then there is a correlation between the colors of the Super Bowl logo each year and the teams that will participate in the game itself.

The theory has some evidence to back it up. Super Bowl LVI featured an orange and yellow logo. The game featured the Cincinnati Bengals facing the Los Angeles Rams — an orange team and a yellow team. But that's just one instance, right?

NAY! The very next year, the logo was green and red. The game featured the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs — a green team and a red team. Okay, but two times is a coincidence.

SO YOU'D THINK! Just two years later, the logo was green and red again! And wouldn't you know it, the teams involved were the Eagles and Chiefs ... again! Once means nothing, twice is a coincidence, but three times? That's called a pattern!

So, with the Super Bowl LX logo featuring a variety of colors, USA TODAY made an effort to try to dissect which teams will be involved in the Super Bowl this year. That was a week ago. The Wild Card round has changed the game. Here's a new look at the Super Bowl logo conspiracy and which teams could wind up playing for the Lombardi Trophy this year.

The Super Bowl logo was revealed in February with many fans speculating that it would be the Ravens vs. Lions based on the color scheme. Neither of those teams even reached the playoffs though.

Super Bowl logo conspiracy: Which teams will play in Super Bowl LX?

Originally, our expert color analysis predicted the Super Bowl would feature the Buffalo Bills (red and blue) facing off against the Green Bay Packers (green and yellow).

Thanks to Matt LaFleur's embarrassing second half against Chicago this past weekend, the Packers have been eliminated. So the theory must adjust accordingly. The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are the only teams remaining with any yellow in their logos, meaning one of them must reach the Super Bowl.

If the Rams make it, their blue and yellow color scheme would necessitate at least red from the AFC team in order to make the logo conspiracy work. The Bills, Patriots, and Texans all feature red in their logos, but no one, not even the Denver Broncos feature green.

If the 49ers make it, the same issue as with the Rams arises: the absence of green from the matchup.
