Grace Van Patten as Lucy and Costa D'Angelo as Alex in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3Key Points -

Tell Me Lies season 3 sees Lucy and Stephen getting back together, which is definitely bad.

Iris Apatow and Costa D'Angelo join the season 3 cast.

Season 3 is now airing on Hulu.

If you thought your college years were dramatic, you haven't watched Tell Me Lies.

Hulu's intoxicating series follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), whose on-and-off romance has been an emotional wrecking ball since they met at Baird College in 2007. Flipping between their reckless early days and an explosive fallout years later, the show explores how Lucy and Stephen's twisted love story can't help but yank everyone around them into the drama.

Lucy and Stephen are back together in the season 3 premiere, which dropped on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Despite their promises to change, the official synopsis teases that "past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy with which she wants nothing to do."

Van Patten and White return, as do stars Cat Missal, Spencer House, and Tom Ellis, among others. Season 3 also welcomes newcomers Iris Apatow and Costa D'Angelo, who are sure to give the pot a fresh stir.

Here's a complete guide to the Tell Me Lies season 3 cast and characters.

Grace Van Patten as Lucy

Grace Van Patten as Lucy in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Grace Van Patten, daughter of Emmy-winning director Tim Van Patten, got her first taste of acting on a 2006 episode of The Sopranos directed by her dad. Later, she'd move on to roles on series such as Law & Order: SVU (2013) and Boardwalk Empire (2014).

In 2017, Van Patten starred opposite Dustin Hoffman and Adam Sandler in Noah Baumbach's acclaimed The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). Most recently, she played the title role on Hulu's The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox (2025).

Now, she returns to Tell Me Lies season 3 as Lucy Albright, whose toxic relationship with Stephen DeMarco — played by her real-life boyfriend, Jackson White — drives much of the drama.

In a January 2026 interview with Swooon, Van Patten said fans will see Lucy really struggle this season.

"I liked how different it was from the first two seasons, where normally Lucy's very headstrong and stubborn and kind of justifies her actions, and I think she's starting to face these consequences," she teased. "It's forcing her to live with herself after what she's done, and it totally kicks her into feeling shame and not being happy about who she is and who she's become."

Jackson White as Stephen

Jackson White as Stephen in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Jackson White is best known for Tell Me Lies, though fans might also recognize him from the HBO miniseries Mrs. Fletcher (2019), as well as movies such as Ambulance (2022) and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines (2023).

He returns in season 3 as Stephen DeMarco, easily the show's most toxic and cruel character. White recently told PEOPLE that Stephen is a "f------ super villain" this season, especially when it comes to Lucy. Now that he knows about her hookup with his best friend, Evan (Branden Cook), he's hell-bent on causing her as much pain as possible.

"He started as a pretty ambiguous, 'Oh, why is he doing [that]? What's he doing? Who is this? And oh, where does he come from? Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe,'" White said regarding Stephen's journey. "I try and just show up and do the best job possible, but there's no denying how malicious it all is now — the lengths he goes to."

Cat Missal as Bree

Disney/Ian Watson

Cat Missal as Bree in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Cat Missal previously appeared on episodes of SVU (2011–2012) and The Blacklist (2018), as well as in the 2015 comedy Vacation, in which she played the love interest of Skyler Gisondo's James Griswold. You can also catch her in a small role as a CIA duty officer in Kathryn Bigelow's A House of Dynamite (2025).

Missal returns to Tell Me Lies as Bree, one of Lucy's best pals. In the college timeline, Bree is still reeling from her relationship with Oliver (Tom Ellis), a professor who was in an open marriage and didn't tell her until after she thought they'd been caught by his wife.

In the 2015 timeline, Bree is about to marry Evan, though their relationship will no doubt be complicated by Stephen having sent her a voice memo of Evan confessing to his one-night stand with Lucy.

Sonia Mena as Pippa

Sonia Mena as Pippa in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Prior to joining Tell Me Lies, Sonia Mena portrayed sex worker Xiomara in the third and final season of HBO's The Deuce (2019). They also popped up on several other shows, including Search Party (2020), Love, Victor (2021), and Apple TV's Invasion (2021).

Mena plays Pippa, another friend of Lucy's. In the college timeline, Pippa is back together with Wrigley (played by Mena's real-life partner, Spencer House), while in 2015 she's dating Diana (Alicia Crowder), Stephen's ex-girlfriend.

Recently, Mena talked about Pippa and Wrigley finding their way back to each other after the death of Wrigley's brother, Drew (Benjamin Wadsworth). Since Pippa was the one who helped reconnect the brothers, she carries guilt over Drew's accidental overdose.

According to Mena, that guilt plays a big role in why Pippa stays. "I think she stays in the relationship for a lot of reasons," they told the Upcoming. "Definitely obligation and guilt, but also love. There is so much true affection they have for each other, that she has for him."

Spencer House as Wrigley

Spencer House as Wrigley in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Netflix subscribers may remember Spencer House as Clark, a football player on the short-lived mystery series The Society (2019). He followed that up with recurring roles on Space Force and Teenage Bounty Hunters in 2020, and later appeared alongside Missal in A House of Dynamite, where he played Lieutenant Colonel Mark Belcher.

Now, House returns for Tell Me Lies season 3, starring as fan-favorite character Mike Wrigley, a popular football player who is best friends with Stephen and Evan. Early in the third season, college-era Wrigley is dating Pippa while also growing closer to Bree.

Creator and showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer recently spoke with Variety about Wrigley and Bree's dynamic, saying that even though they barely know each other, their connection feels organic.

"They are, by season 3, in a lot of ways, the people who have dealt with the most serious trauma in their lives," she explained. "I always like stories where people who are at rock bottom connect and find healing within each other and find a surprising safe space with another person. So it felt just very organic to me."

Branden Cook as Evan

Disney/Ian Watson

Branden Cook as Evan in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Branden Cook plays Evan on Tell Me Lies, though you may also know him as Harper's ex-boyfriend on HBO's Industry (2020) and his turn on Apple's Emmy-winning Masters of the Air (2024).

Evan is a wealthy pal of Wrigley and Stephen who's intertwined romantically with Bree. Before his relationship with Bree, though, Evan had a brief fling with Molly, played by Cook's real-life fiancée, Katherine Hughes.

At the end of season 2, Evan opened up to Stephen about a drunken encounter he had with Lucy, which haunts him throughout the third season. "I think Evan is very mentally unsure of what's going on and how he's going to proceed," Cook shared in a recent interview. "Stephen says he won't use it against him… but I don’t know if Evan's quite sure about that."

Alicia Crowder as Diana

Disney/Ian Watson

Alicia Crowder as Diana in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Alicia Crowder previously shared the screen with House on The Society, where she played Erika, the girlfriend of one of Clark's former football teammates. A few years later, she joined Tell Me Lies as a main cast member.

Crowder returns for season 3, reprising her role as Diana, a law school hopeful and Stephen's on-again, off-again college girlfriend.

In an interview with Hello!, Crowder hinted that "there's a lot of momentum" in season 3. "You really feel like there's a snowball effect and everything's coming to a head. It's like, 'Wow, what's going on?' It's chaotic."

She also shared that the characters feel "a lot more grounded" this season. "There's less of a performative element to them all," she said. "I mean performative in the way that when you first meet a group of friends, you're not necessarily being your truest, ugliest self. In [season three], it's less filtered."

Edmund Donovan as Max

Disney/Ian Watson

Edmund Donovan as Max in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Stage veteran Edmund Donovan is in demand, having pivoted from a starring role on Gossip Girl (2021–2023) to memorable supporting turns in Alex Garland's harrowing Civil War (2024) and the Melissa Barrera-led horror rom-com Your Monster (2024).

Since 2022, Donovan has been stirring up more than just martinis as Tell Me Lies' Max, a charming bartender Lucy sleeps with during her freshman year of college. In the 2015 timeline, it's revealed that Max and Lucy are in a relationship, and that he attends Bree and Evan's wedding as her plus one.

Tom Ellis as Oliver

Disney/Ian Watson

Tom Ellis as Oliver in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Tom Ellis has a personal tie to Tell Me Lies, as he's married to Oppenheimer, the show's creator.

Ellis is best known for playing the devilish title character on Lucifer (2016–2021), as well as for film roles such as Isn't It Romantic (2019) and The Thursday Murder Club (2025). Next, he'll headline the FBI spinoff series, CIA, which premieres on Feb. 23, 2026.

Ellis joined Tell Me Lies in season 2 as Oliver, a manipulative college professor who strikes up an ill-fated romance with Bree. In season 3, Evan confronts Oliver over his affair with Bree, only for him to feign innocence and even twist the situation so Evan stays silent.

Oppenheimer told Deadline that Oliver needed to "get a little bit darker and more f----- up" this season. "On the surface, Oliver, I always knew that he was such a bad guy, but it was funny, some people, even watching season 2, forgave him for a lot of things because I think Tom is so charming and Tom is so… I'm biased, but he's so beautiful."

Costa D'Angelo as Alex

Disney/Ian Watson

Costa D'Angelo as Alex in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Like fellow Australian actor Margot Robbie, Costa D'Angelo got his start on the soap opera Neighbours (2023–2024). He also appeared in Rebel Wilson's musical The Deb (2024) as the town's bad boy, Dusty.

Looking ahead, D'Angelo will appear opposite Florence Pugh in Netflix's upcoming adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden.

Now, D'Angelo joins Tell Me Lies season 3 as Alex, a psychology graduate student who also happens to be a drug dealer. He also turns out to be Bree's former foster brother.

The actor recently opened up about joining the series, admitting he was "so excited" to work with Oppenheimer. "She just loves this world so much and really believes in it, and that was, for me, so exciting to get to work with a showrunner as brilliant as her," he said. "You feel so safe, like you're in good hands because the script, so much of it is so dark, and so you're vulnerable."

Iris Apatow as Amanda

Disney/Ian Watson

Iris Apatow as Amanda in 'Tell Me Lies' season 3

Iris Apatow, the youngest daughter of director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann, started acting very young, sharing the screen with her sister Maude in movies like Knocked Up (2007), This Is 40 (2012), and The Bubble (2022).

Olivia Rodrigo fans may also know her as the pop star's bestie, as well as a presence in her "Bad Idea Right" music video and "Sour Prom" concert film. Apatow will next appear with Elle Fanning and Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes in the Hunger Games film Sunrise on the Reaping (2026).

In Tell Me Lies season 3, Apatow plays Amanda, who Deadline described as a "bubbly but fragile college freshman keeping a big secret." Early on, it looks as if she's being pulled into Oliver's orbit, but with this show, things are rarely as simple as they seem.
